How many times can you resurrect an ambition?

As many times as necessary.

LFTLC started as a commercial radio show, supported by its members. Then we moved to the internet, only to discover the mechanisms for affordable, real-time online streaming with live call-ins are in beta stage at best.

So we went away again.

But Gordon, Ellen and I - along with our marvelous members and listeners who stay in touch - remain determined that LFTLC fills a massive need in today's culture: intelligent, respectful, occasionally light-hearted coverage of important issues. (With - okay, I admit it - the occasional dodge down a frivolous alley just for fun. Admit it, you liked our Mad Men show!) Now we're back with a new model that we believe keeps our goals within our means, while aiming higher in the long term.

Today we've mounted our first podcast of a new series: one-on-one interviews in quick, specific response to a news story of the day. Check it out on our podcast page. It's the latest on an issue that's both specific to one town - my own Redwood City - and relevant to anyone, anywhere who cares about the struggle between saving the environment and providing badly-needed housing. The Cargill/DMB Saltworks projects has it all, in spades.

We'll bring you another 'cast or two this week, gearing up to one or more daily; yours truly needs to get her tech legs underneath her again. I will not confess to the embarrassing number of hours that went into editing that simple 14-minute interview! But yes - much more to come.

A second exciting development in the works: an LFTLC speaker series. Can't go into it much yet, as there's not much to go into. It's an idea on paper, bolstered with some encouraging feedback to the feelers we've thrown out. One thing is already in stone: the best benefits and access will go to our members.

Which reminds me: THANK YOU to all of you who've pitched in time, money, memberships, emails, and phone calls checking in on us, buoying us up, giving us the juice to keep going. You make all the difference in the world. We're not just still here; we're jazzed about what's to come. Come with us!
