I learned something concerning the past year.
So last week I got a little inside baseball concerning my aircraft maintenance job that went poof on the day of Obama's inauguration.
You all know how I have been surviving by both unemployment, and living at my mother's house.
Yea, well.
It all may not have been necessary had it not been for the greed of the person running the shop.
The reason I and another technician got laid off that day was because the shop just wasn't making money.
For the next six months the shop continued to flounder despite it having work. Then another employee was laid off.
It still flounderd for more months, and one of the last technicians left.
Finally the Owner of the shop (other than the manager), did an independent audit. The result I am sure you all can see. Apparently for every employee released, the GM's take home went up that amount.
In other words there is a high probability that I SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN LAID OFF.
OH MY GOD.
I think it is time that before anyone is laid off from any job, due to financial reason, the exec's pay should be lowered first. NO MORE OF THIS execs keeping their massive pay, or getting bonusus while the reason they are making that money, the employees, get laid off.
I will be trying to get my job back.
What it seems he was doing was giving himself raises every time more money became available, so unfortunately I have little to no recourse.
The owner is one of those rarities in business. A trusting soul. He just bought the shop because he loves aviation, and wanted to be part of it. The guy he hired WAS a personal friend of his.
So that is most likely why this happened.
